Welcome to Passionflower Gardening, we love helping you to love your garden!

Has your garden become an uninspiring chore? Does your heart sink when you look out of the window? I love to work with busy families in South London and Surrey to help them to love their gardens again.

I can work with you to create an engaging space for you where everyone in the family can grow, where children can play safely, and adults can relax and recharge at the end of the day. I create beautiful places for entertaining, which encourage wildlife, but are easy and simple to care for.

I would love to discuss the first steps of your gardening journey with you, whether it is a flower bed needing more colour, unruly shrubs that need attention, or helping you to get to know your garden and how to maintain it.

Services

I am currently offering three packages. The first two are available on their own, but if you would like to plan your plants, then we do need to discuss the plants for your garden first.

I will visit you to discuss the plants you have in your garden, including identifying any mystery plants you may have acquired. I can help you to gain practical skills such as pruning and advice on maintenance, and I can also advise on sustainable and environmentally friendly gardening, such as attracting more wildlife to your garden, and managing pests in a friendly way.

I will provide you with a summary of everything we have discussed and provide you with relevant information.

From £150 depending on the size of the project.

I will visit you to find out which areas of your garden you would like to work on, and how we can help you love your garden again. Usually this is a bed or border where the plants are not working for you, or a patio that would love some beautiful containter planting. I will also carry out soil testing to make sure that the plants you choose will thrive in your garden.

I will provide you with a summary of everything we have discussed, as well as suggesting plants that are suitable for your garden. I also give you all of the information you need to choose your plants, as well as a summary of the colours you can expect to see throughout the year.

From £200 depending on the size of the project.

After we have discussed the plants for your garden, you may want some more help with your planting choices. I am very happy to meet you again to discuss the information I have provided after my first visit, and to help you to make your final plant choices. I will then measure your garden and create a planting plan for you. For larger areas you may also find some concept drawings helpful - these are preliminary sketches of the planting plan and can give you an impression of what the planting will look like.

I will then supply you with a planting plan to scale, along with a list of plants and their Latin names, and the numbers of each required.

From £200 depending on the size of the project.

Concept drawings are charged separately, from £200.

After I have visited you, I will also be happy to provide a maintenance plan for the plants we have discussed, these start at £50.

I may also be able to supply you with any plants which you have chosen, and install them, depending on the scale of the project.

About me

My name is Bridget Spencer, and I am the owner of Passionflower Gardening. I have been gardening for as long as I can remember, whether it was commandeering the end of a flowerbed in our small family garden, or dragging an increasingly unhappy cherry tree in a pot around South London from flat to flat. I am an RHS qualified gardener, currently studying for a Post Graduate Diploma in Garden Design with the British Academy of Garden Design. I am also a regular volunteer gardener at Gatton Park in Surrey, and this year volunteered for the RHS at Hampton Court Garden Festival, working with Anya Lautenbach, known to many as ‘Anya the Garden Fairy’. I have always loved gardens and gardening, and gardened throughout my previous career as a Doctor in Mental Health Services. This, combined with my experiences as the parent of two children, one of whom is Neurodiverse, has given me a passion for creating garden spaces that enhance the wellbeing of the whole family. I have realised that many families have gardens which are not working for them, but may be a little nervous of changing a whole garden at once. I will work with you to identify the most important area to work on, and help you to achieve a garden you will love, whether it is adding containers to a patio, adding colour to an existing border, creating a vegetable patch, attracting more wildlife, taming overgrown shrubs, or helping you to learn about your garden and how to maintain it.
